AmeriCorps Members will promote Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training to help lower suicide and bring awareness to mental health care. Track and document all AmeriCorps training and events Support for veterans, service members, and military families. Conduct Training Management meetings. Support National Day of Service events. Develop and support veteran / service member events with the Ohio Army National Guard (OHARNG), Ohio Air National Guard (OHANG), and Columbus VA. Support Governor’s Challenge veteran related training and events. Support Suicide Prevention Coalitions. Disseminate health and safety education materials. Support veteran resource tabling sessions.
In support of the mission of Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, the AmeriCorps Veteran Liaison will promote Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training to help lower veteran suicide, bring awareness to mental health care, and develop partnerships with 5 community-based veteran organizations. They will accomplish this by disseminating 500 health and safety education materials, as well as supporting 10 individual veteran resource tabling session that will provide services statewide. This will also help support the veteran objectives of the Ohio Governor’s Challenge.
