The TAPS three-phase Postvention Model: A Roadmap Towards Post Traumatic Growth Presented by Kim Ruocco, MSW.
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) has provided peer-based, emotional support to family and loved ones grieving the death of a U.S. service member since 1994. Since that time, TAPS has supported over 16,000 survivors of military or Veteran suicide loss. The TAPS Suicide Prevention & Postvention team offers comprehensive programs and services directly impacting efforts in military suicide prevention, intervention and postvention. The TAPS Suicide Postvention Model helps stabilize suicide specific issues, integrate grief into ones life or organization and provides a roadmap toward post-traumatic growth. This model has been used as a comprehensive, best practice response on military units, in VA clinics and hospitals, and with small groups and individual suicide loss survivors. This session will provide an overview of the model.
