QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer: the three simple moves anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
In this training, community members will learn:
Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to help someone in crisis seek the support they need.
We can all save lives
The QPR mission is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical, and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know.
Suicide among Veterans is at a crisis level. While we’ve made strides in recognizing the signs and providing help, there’s an urgent need to integrate suicide prevention practices within post-service culture, connect those in need to life-saving resources, and, most importantly, improve access to mental health care. Ohio’s sixth-largest Veteran population, at 689,000, is a stark reminder of this pressing need. Together, we share a concern for these issues, and by coming together, we can create a supportive community for those who need it.
This training is open to the public, with a primary focus on military service members, veterans, their families, and caregivers.
