Stacey Frohnapfel from Ohio MHAS will provide an update on the state’s implementation efforts for bringing the new National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 988 number into communities across Ohio. This work to date has included nearly 200 state and community stakeholders to ensure effective access to care for Ohioans in crisis for suicide, mental health or substance use concerns. Evi Roberts with Ohio SPF will offer a primer on House Bill 123, the “Safety and Violence Education Students (SAVE Students) Act,” which requires schools to offer suicide prevention programming by the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Qualifying programs and the role coalitions can play to help their schools meet compliance requirements will also be covered.
